Coaching for Partners of Sex Addicts Can Change Your Life!
Hello. My name is JoAnn Russell and I have been providing support, resources, counseling and coaching for partners of sex addicts for over 15 years. I have a unique approach to counseling/coaching partners of sex addicts as I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Stress Management practices into my programs to minimize anxiety, stress and PTSD symptoms.
My programs use a partner centered treatment model, which means that I am focused on YOU and YOUR healing; as opposed to sex addiction programs, CSAT therapists, 12 step groups or couples therapy, which focus on the sex addict and often re-traumatize the partner by placing blame or minimizing the trauma she has endured.
In addition to my work with Partners I have 20 plus years of experience as a Registered Nurse, counseling Hospice and medical patients and their families and guiding them through the trauma and crisis of acute or terminal illnesses. I have also worked extensively with domestic violence victims and, as a partner of a sex addict myself, I have a unique insight into what partners of sex addicts need to improve their lives.
A Life Coach is a trained and certified professional who will help you identify your challenges and optimize your life step by step.
No. You cannot ‘positively think’ your behaviors away. Coaching will clarify goals and identify obstacles and create action plans to achieve desired results.
Coaching is similar to therapy or counseling. Therapy and counseling focus primarily on healing past issues, whereas coaching focuses on implementing changes to create a new future. SOS Coaching does not address or treat mental illness or personality disorders. SOS Coaching is for healthy people who want to improve their lives.
CBT is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. CBT focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings and behavior. CBT is very effective for overcoming stress, anxiety, fear and relationship issues and studies have shown that CBT and antidepressants are equally effective.
SOS Coaching for Partners will allow you to gain a fresh perspective on your relationship and give clarity to what changes you want to make in your life. SOS Coaching will help you take action and become ‘unstuck’ from negative situations. SOS Coaching will help you find purpose, motivation and give you the resources to make whatever changes you desire.
SOS Coaching is for Partners who are motivated to move forward and make positive, healthy lifestyle changes. Whether you decide to stay in the relationship or leave I will help you develop and implement a plan that will help you improve your life in positive ways.
Do any of these sound familiar?
- You are being manipulated and gaslighted
- You are having symptoms of PTSD
- Your stress level is making you sick
- You lack self confidence
- You are unable to make decisions
- You have trouble sleeping
- You have trouble focusing
- You are facing a major transition
- You are ready for a career change but just don’t know how to make it happen
- You are ‘sitting on the fence’ about a major decision or life change
- There are people in your life who continuously drain your energy
- Your relationship is not what you want it to be
SOS Coaching for Partners can help with these and many other issues that Partners face.
Unfortunately insurance plans do not cover coaching programs. The good news is that coaching offers verifiable results within a much shorter time frame than traditional counseling or therapy, so in many cases your expenses will be far less than your counseling co-payments.
Absolutely! There have been many studies that show the effectiveness of Coaching. Here is a link to some of those statistics.
Does Coaching Work?
The American Counseling Association has recognized the benefits of Life Coaching:
There are a lot of people trying to cope with life adjustments, anxieties and personal challenges, says Lynn Mitchell, a member of the American Counseling Association. Coaching can help, and there is something positive and preventative about it. Wellness is a trend, and coaching is part of it. (my emphasis)
